Working with Barton Engineers
We are always interested in hearing from engineers with talent and passion, at all levels of experience, who are interested in working for a progressive and award winning company. Barton Engineers is a company that prides itself on providing excellence in the realm of structural engineering, and our company ethos is built around creativity, consistency, and passion for engineering design. If you join us you will be expected to work hard at upholding and promoting these values at all times. We work on challenging projects; we need people capable of meeting these challenges.

The office environment is stimulating and we aim to offer as much responsibility and experience as employees wish to take on. We also expect our staff to live rich cultural lives and to contribute to society in general outside the relatively narrow realm of engineering and construction. Salaries are competitive and we have been operating a successful staff development plan for a number of years. We are happy to consider part time working for all of the positions below.

Anyone who thinks they have what it takes should send us their CV by e-mail to cv@bartonengineers.co.uk - All CVs should be in PDF format only, and must include images of your design work and a covering statement, but please include these on a single CV file no larger than 5000k. We try to acknowledge receipt of all applications within two working days, and to respond within 14 days. We do not use employment agencies so please apply directly to us. We are currently looking for Project or Design Engineers with at least three years post graduation experience working in a design office or other environment working on structural designs. Ideally you should be capable of running small or medium sized projects on a day to day basis, carrying out scheme designs, attending meetings and site monitoring visits, and dealing with architects and contractors. You will work directly for a Director or Project Director, and be able to organise your own work and that of at least one other Engineer and/or Technician. You will either be an MIStructE, or coming up to take the Chartered Membership Exam of The Institution of Structural Engineers. Most importantly you must be able to demonstrate creativity, a thorough understanding of structural engineering, good problem solving ability, and a passion for the built environment.

Technicians: Recruiting
We are currently looking for Technicians who are looking to gain good experience working for a progressive and award winning company. We have used AutoDesk Revit on all of our projects since 2007, and we are particularly interested in Technicians with some experience of Revit, or who are interested in working with Revit. Applicants should be able to demonstrate good presentation skills, the ability and willingness to learn new methods and techniques and skills, and a passion for the built environment.

Conservation Engineers: Recruiting
We are currently looking for engineers with expertise and/or interest in conservation and working with historic buildings. We have a wide range of project work on historic buildings, including structural and fabric surveys, conservation assessments and management plans, listed building consents, and also contract administration for a wide range of projects. Ideally we are looking for engineers with similar levels of skill and experience as defined above for Project Engineers, although we would be interested in hearing from anyone at any level of experience who would like to move into the conservation area.

Graduate Engineers or Internships
Regrettably we are not currently considering applications for Graduates with less than three years experience, or for Internships.
