Glass Roof light, Chesterfield Hill, Mayfair, London
A typical structural glass design project, the brief was to design a ‘walk on’ glass roof over the rear light well of this Mayfair house. The roof light, or glass floor, is 5 metres by 8 metres, and spans clear between masonry walls using triple laminated glass beams, that support laminated glass floor plates. The whole assembly is sealed with structural silicone joints and fits the slightly rhomboid plan shape of the light well perfectly, and makes a very fine addition to this property.
