New House, Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset
The client’s family has lived on the site for five generations; the first house being built in the 1900’s as a home and retreat for an artist and her family. At the time it was one of the first houses on the Sandbanks peninsular, a spit of land separating Poole Harbour from the sea, and providing the eastern terminal for the Studland/Swanage ferry. Sandbanks is now almost fully developed with large residential houses and apartment blocks, and this site is one of the few remaining with a woodland setting. The new house has been designed to accommodate the three current generations of the family.
